SonaMobile continued its lucrative association with U.S. horseracing this week with the launch of its mWager mobile gambling application. The facility is integrated with the Scientific Games’ Trackplay wagering platform for New Jersey Account Wagering LLC and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which have exclusive agreements with Pennwood Racing LLC for telephone and Internet account wagering services to residents of New Jersey.
mWager will extend the online betting facilities offered to New Jersey Account Wagering’s gamblers, making wagers via mobile telephones and PDAs possible. Online gambling on horseraces is legal in the US, thanks to exemptions from current anti-online gambling legislation.
The launch comes only five months after Sona’s announcement that it had entered into an agreement with Scientific Games Racing LLC to provide the mWager mobile wagering platform, and is the second major launch of the mWager mobile wagering platform in North America in the last four months.
Sona Mobile will receive a percentage of each wager transacted via the mWager application in New Jersey. Using mWager, NJAW Mobile will initially launch on Blackberry and iPhone devices and will follow in the coming weeks with Pocket PC, Smart Phone and browser-based (WAP) offerings.
“We are excited to be in an elite group of racing jurisdictions to be live with mobile wagering,” said Lennon Register, Senior Vice President of Racing for New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
“Sona’s mWager mobile application was selected to give our customers additional services through the convenience of placing a wager when they are away from home and even at the track on their own personal cell phones and PDA’s,” said Donald R. Codey, a senior executive of Freehold Raceway, and a board member of New Jersey Account Wagering.
