Online betting exchange Betfair has followed up its marketing ploy last year, where it put QR Codes on the back of the bikini bottoms of two British beach volleyball champions (see previous InfoPowa report), with another QR Code placement strategy on the front of Irish boxer Eamonn O’Kane’s Betfair-branded boxer shorts.
The Drum reports O’Kane will step on the scales ahead of this week’s Betfair Prizefighter Middleweight show in Belfast in the specially-designed shorts and fight fans that scan the QR code from O’Kane’s crotch will be taken to the boxing betting markets via Betfair mobile.
Alex Blake, Betfair spokesman said: “The weigh-in is an important part of any fight and, from a betting perspective, will have an impact on our exchange prices. As the early favourite for the Middleweights crown all eyes will be on Eamonn, so any punter wanting to place a bet need just scan his pants.”
“I’ve never thought of myself as an underwear model, but maybe I could have a second career when I retire from boxing,” added O’Kane.
