Betfred’s internal mobile development department, headed by Andrew Daniels, has moved into a new and independent phase and is now offering its mobile apps to a wider market under the brand Degree53.

The thirty members of the unit remain based in Manchester, England, where the company specialises in building high volume, transactional mobile, web and native applications under Daniels’ leadership.

The company has developed deep mobile development experience working within the Betfred empire, but last (August) month moved out on its own.

For the past two years, Daniels was head of mobile development at Betfred, where he set up the company’s standalone mobile development team, starting out with just three employees. Its success can be measured by the growth in the department and its activities – when the division morphed into Design53 last month it comprised thirty members, all experienced in design, development and implementation of a broad range of mobile betting and gambling products including Betfred’s in-house mobile sportsbook.

Prior to joining Betfred Daniels was a senior developer at IGT (three years), where he led the team that brought the slot titles such as Rainbow Riches, Monopoly Multiplier and Cleopatra to the iOS and Android mobile platforms.

He also worked as a developer at Million-2-1 for five years as a founder member of a UK start-up that grew into one of England’s largest mobile gaming business.
