Microgaming, the veteran online gambling software developer based on the Isle of Man, has announced that its wide selection of games is now available on Android v2.2 Froyo devices running Adobe Flash 10.1. This industry first complements Microgaming’s existing mobile casino offering in partnership with Spin3.
The changes reflect Microgaming’s desire to constantly enhance its online and mobile casino offering by providing operators with innovative new technology and products, a spokesman said this week.
Betway Casino is the first Microgaming operator to launch the games as both play-for-fun and play-for-real content, and the games using the new platform can be downloaded directly from mobile.betway.com.
The respected industry research firm Gartner predicts Android will increase its market share to 14 percent of the global smart phone market in 2012 and become the number one global mobile operating system by 2014, surpassing Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and iPhone devices.
Android is already the operating system behind some of the market’s most popular mobile phones including the Google Nexus One, HTC Desire and Motorola Milestone 2. It is also the operating system for a large number of tablet or pad style devices that will be arriving in force on the market this year and next.
Mike Hebden, head of casino for Microgaming says: “The interest around Android v2.2 is massive; the Froyo user interface and experience is comparable to that of the iPhone and the platform is rapidly growing in popularity with developers and consumers. Android has more momentum than any other platform and is largely driving the increased sales of smart phones.”
“A successful mobile casino business needs to support Android, and we are delighted to be able to meet this demand,” said Daniel Goss, md for Betway.
Android games will also be offered as part of Spin3’s solution for Android devices, which will include pure native apps and will be released in the coming months, the Microgaming spokesman added.
