The internet operations of Australian bookmaker Betchoice have been given a boost by its recently launched mobile sports betting service, which chief executive Graham Keating says brought in substantial additional business during the recent Spring Racing Carnival, and is expected to impact positively on betting in other sports going forward.
Founded in 2001, Betchoice takes bets on a wide range of sports and events and has a staff of 30 and an annual turnover of some A$200 million. The phone betting service goes to a Darwin based call centre, and the company also has offices in Sydney.
Playtech’s mobile technology subsidiary, Mobenga worked with Betchoice on the introduction of the mobile channel, and the bookmaker is offering sports betting on both iPhone and Android devices, with ambitious plans to extend the service in response to growing punter demand in Australia.
