The Racing and Digital division of UK sports betting company Sportech plc has been contracted by the Canadian race course and casino operator Great Canadian Gaming Corporation to supply pari-mutuel tote wagering systems at GCGC operations throughout Canada.
The deal includes the provision of mobile wagering facilities that enable punters to use their mobile devices to place bets whilst on the premises.
The two companies have an existing business relationship which is expanded by the new agreement, providing for new teller-operated and self-service wagering equipment.
GCGC’s chief of racing operations Bruce Barbour said Monday that his company has been pleased with the reliability and performance of Sportech wagering technologies and service, and looked forward to implementing the new technologies called for in the expanded agreement.
Sportech Racing and Digital head Andrew Gaughan, said the new contract “….not only provides more efficient wagering terminals, but also provides the opportunity to adopt new and emerging technologies, such as Sportech’s Digital Link mobile wagering and digital voucher suite.”
